Since 1992, the WHRFC has been awarding a scholarship to FULL-TIME GRADUATE STUDENTS at the University of Manitoba who demonstrate academic excellence and whose research concentration is in the area of women’s health.  This WHRFC scholarship is a one-year term award, held during the academic year. It is valued at $3,000.00 CDN and is not tenable with any other scholarship with a value in excess of $19,500.00.

Beginning in 2016, a scholarship has been awarded to PART-TIME GRADUATE STUDENTS at the University of Manitoba who demonstrate academic excellence and whose research concentration is in the area of women’s health.  This WHRFC scholarship is a one-year term award, held during the academic year. It is valued at $1,500.00 CDN and is not tenable with any other scholarship with a value in excess of $19,500.00.

These awards are issued in one full payment, paid directly to the recipient in September from the University of Manitoba.

Who can apply?

Any student registered in a graduate program at the University of Manitoba. Please note that “registered” includes being accepted by the major department of study, admitted by the Faculty of Graduate Studies, or eligible to register in the Faculty of Graduate Studies. A student admitted under provisional status may not receive the award during the provisional period.

How to apply

All applications are submitted through the University of Manitoba Faculty of Graduate Studies before the deadline and must include:

  • Completed application form
  • Two letters of reference
  • Official transcript in a sealed envelope from the Registrar’s Office (no photocopies or computer print-outs are accepted)
Note: official transcripts from other universities must be attached to the application form before submitting the form to the applicant's Department. Students who do not have a University of Manitoba academic record may append one letter of reference from a person most knowledgeable about their academic work; these students must submit official transcripts of their academic record from all universities attended. Where official transcripts are impossible to obtain, a certified true copy (by the Department) may be substituted.
